The first 200 years

On 10 January Liveryman Hannes Kleineke gave a splendid talk on the early days of the Company, introducing us to the themes of his recent publication The Worshipful Company of Fletchers. The Early Centuries c. 1371-c. 1571.

This was a period in which arrow production was generally buoyant, and therefore the Company had ample business. Indeed, it may have reached its numerical peak of around 130 in 1570.

Hannes brought to life the Fletchers of the period, both men and women, and gave us insights into their social and religious activities.

To purchase a copy of his book (all profits from sales are for the Fletchers Trust) please contact the clerk (. uk). The cost is £10 plus postage.
