Many of the UK archers competing in the National Disability Championships on 10 September had previously received support from the Fletchers’ Trust.
One of these was Ian Thomas from Colwyn Bowmen (pictured here) who received a grant in July for a compound bow of his own, rather than continuing to use club equipment. Having only shot a handful of times with the new bow, Ian doubled his previous best score and was awarded the Fletchers’ Trophy for the most improved archer at the event. Ian also took second place in the Compound Men category.
The winner in each Para category was awarded with a Fletchers’ 650 Anniversary ‘Target’ trophy with 1st, 2nd and 3rd receiving Fletchers mementoes as well as National Disability Championships medals.
In the evening three world class Paralympic archers Jess Stretton, Martin Saych and Victoria Kingston joined the Fletchers’ group for dinner along with Archery GB Chair Mark Briegal, Paralympic Coach Andrea Gales and Equipment Technician Kieran Carr. Andrea shared highlights of the 2022 season and insights into the focus for training over the Winter.
