Archery GB receives funding from Sport England but basis is changed

Sport England has confirmed its commitment to funding athletics until the Paris Olympics and Paralympics in hopefully 3 years time but the whole basis of selecting which sports are to be helped has changed. Previously, the main criteria seemed focussed on success in winning medals, but no longer.

Now it appears that much more emphasis is to be placed on ”Winning the game the right way” and future funding will depend on applicants following this advice, particularly Inclusion and diversity.

Of course, this policy is already in place but more needs to be done. The new guidelines are set out in this BBC article and Archery GB has adopted a new policy to show they are fully compliant. The Fletcher’s Trust is equally aware of the need for change and will be reporting on its new policies to fund and support Archery GB.
