The Trustees were delighted to receive a further update from Deborah Illman-Roberts, following receipt of a grant for a New Compound Bow and some Arrows in September 2023. Deborah competed in the Chester Indoor Tournament at the beginning of February and shared the following:
“On the Sunday, although we were shooting as a club team, they were also awarding Individual scores. Somehow, I still can’t believe it myself, I managed to set a new PB for the Portsmouth round of 564, an increase of 8 points!! This score earned me the place of 3rd Lady Compound out of 12 archers. I was, and still am, very proud of this achievement so wanted to let you know.”
“I am also working closely with a Charity called REMAP who are purpose designing/building a way for me to transport my own bow case onto the shooting field, whilst still having both hands free to push my chair. We’ve had a look at a prototype this evening and have made some modifications, but I am hopeful that I will have this by the start of the Outdoor season, for which I already have many shoots planned in.”
We are delighted to see that Debs had some wonderful success at the Chester Indoor tournament, and know that she was then attending the Deer Park Archers Disability shoot that took place on the weekend of 10/11 February 2024, which was also attended by the Master who had opportunity to speak with Debs.
We look forward to hearing more of Debs successes in the future!
