Update on Trustees Grant for Helen Courquin

Helen writes again on her progress "

In May of this year I was awarded a considerable amount of money from the Worshipful Company of Fletchers, to put toward getting a hand bike to attach to my wheelchair.  This allowed me to both get around archery fields and also to get around hotels which meant that I was able to travel further out to do competitions, tournaments and training events.  I am happy to say that I have made full use of this and have been able to travel around the country and take part in many, gaining invaluable experience and all in all having a wonderful time.

There have been National Tour events, PR events and many, many competitions.  I have seen my archery improve hugely as a result of this.  I have been selected to shoot for Gloucestershire a number of times and am looking forward to shooting in the National inter-counties this year.  While I havent had many wins this is because I have chosen events of a very high standard and have frequently shot against our own, brilliant Olympic squad members.  I have held my own, however and am proud to say that my National ranking has recently been posted as number 43,  I have two, hard fought, Bronze and Silver medals and I have been able to submit almost a full requirement of scores for the World Championships next year.

This has been an incredibly exciting year for me and I really couldn't have achieved it without this amazing device and the kindness and support of the trustees.  Thank you all for believing in me, I hope that I can continue to prove this belief was well placed."
