Westminster Abbey Evensong for 600th anniversary of the funeral of Henry V

On 8 November 2022 a special evensong was held at Westminster Abbey to commemorate the funeral of Henry V 600 years earlier. The Master Fletcher and Master Bowyer were honoured to be invited to lay a wreath at the tomb of Henry, escorted by the immediate past masters of both Companies.

With candles flickering, the perfume of incense and scented flowers, and the organist playing William Walton's music from the Laurence Olivier film of Henry V, it was a most moving experience.

It was good to see so many Fletchers and Bowyers present, alongside members of the other 'warrior' companies. Our collective thanks to Sir Tony Baldry of the Bowyers company and Dr Sinclair Rogers of both Bowyers and Fletchers for their role in organising the event, and to the Dean, the Right Rev David Hoyle, his fellow clergy and the fine choir of Westminster Abbey for such an inspiring service.
