Burns night at the Flecthers
The Company raised a glass or two to celebrate Burns Night on 28 February 2026 at the splendid Farmers and Fletchers Hall. Black Tie was the order of the evening—though Highland tartan made a bold and colourful showing, and not all ties felt obliged to stay black!
Naturally, the feast began with the traditional haggis, neeps and tatties, generously smothered in whisky gravy. This was preceded by what may well have been the most theatrical Address to the Haggis the Hall has ever witnessed—delivered with gusto and no small amount of drama.
The evening was also marked by ceremony and celebration, as we welcomed new Freemen to the Company and clothed several Liverymen into the fold. We were delighted to welcome distinguished guests: Master Solicitor Ginny Cannon, Master Cutler Nicolas Burger, Clerk to the Cutlers Rupert Meacher, and Master Founder Simon Oliver JP—who all added sparkle and excellent company to a thoroughly memorable evening.
