A wonderful evening with the The Worshipful Company of Fletchers, bringing together friends from across the Livery. After hosting the Warrior Company meeting this afternoon, we enjoyed an excellent presentation by our own Liveryman and author, Dr Ted Powell, discussing his new book all about Churchill and his relationship to the monarchy. Ted brought history to life with insight and humour, observing that Churchill’s attitude towards George V was “an odd combination of deference and truculence.” A lively question and answer session followed, with Ted signing copies for members. Funds raised from this evening will support the Fletchers Trust, our charity. It was a pleasure to see so many Livery Companies represented, sharing conversation, learning and fellowship. Thank you to Ted and everyone who helped make the occasion so enjoyable.
