A Song written for the Worshipful Company of Fletchers’ Court and Livery Quarterly Meeting, July 23d. [Manuscript: Saint Magdalen’s day]
TUNE – “The roast Beef of old England”
Once more with great pleasure each brother we meet,
On the day of Saint Magdalen share a choice treat;
Let Friendship and harmony dull care defeat,
And sing oh the good Saints of the Fletchers,
And sing oh the gay Fletchers good Saints.
To his King and his country each Fletcher is true,
And the strict paths of honour most justly pursue;
The joys of this day may they long live to view,
And sing oh the good Saints of the Fletchers,
And sing oh the gay Fletchers good Saints.
The comforts of life may they happily share,
In Fortune’s blest smiles shun sad trouble and care,
On this long kept-day feast on England’s best fare,
And sing oh the good Saints of the Fletchers,
And sing oh the gay Fletchers good Saints.
The calm paths of Friendship may Fletchers long tread,
No scenes of sad tempest or storms have to dread;
To the latest stage by true loyalty led,
And sing oh the good Saints of the Fletchers,
And sing oh the gay Fletchers good Saints.
Now to our worthy Wardens a bumper display,
With thanks for their care of us on each Saint’s day;
May the Fletchers’ good company never decay,
And sing oh the good Saints of the Fletchers,
And sing oh the gay Fletchers good Saints.
