Report from the Para Archery World Championships, where a number of the Para Archers The Fletchers Trust has supported have been in action.
The Great Britain Para Archery Team has recently been competing at the Para World Championships in Pilsen, Czech Republic, and some of the archers supported by the Fletchers Trust have been very successful!
Some 10 archers of the British Team have been supported by the Trust, and the following Medals were won!
Steve Prowse – Gold Medal and World Champion in the Visually Impaired Category V2/3
Jodie Grinham and Phoebe Paterson-Pine – Gold Medallists and World Champions in the Compound Women Open Category, Doubles event.
Nathan McQueen – Silver Medallist in the Compound Mens Open Category
Nicholas Thomas – Bronze Medallist in the Visually Impaired Category V2/3
After this first day of finals at the World Championships, Great Britain was at the top of the Medal Table.
The event also marked the first time the athletes could win places at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games for their countries, and the GBR Team were successful in securing two (2) Compound Women Open places, and one (1) Compound Men Open place at the Games. (Currently VI archery is not a part of the Paralympics).
Our congratulations to all of the team for some great performances and particularly to those who won the medals and the places for GBR at the Paralympics!
